The City Collection of Contemporary Art encompasses historic works, donations, acquisitions, and an ample video section. The collection comprises works given by artists who participated in the various editions of the Masaccio Painting Awards, including Giovanni Anselmo, Alighiero Boetti, Fernando Farulli, Alberto Moretti, Francesco Guerrieri, Aldo Turchiaro, Sergio Scatizzi, as well as works acquired by or donated to the museum between the 1980s and 1990s, testifying to the fervent exhibition activity of Casa Masaccio when it showcased artists of the calibre of Mario Airò, Massimo Bartolini, Alberto Garutti, Mauro Staccioli, John Murphy.
The most recent acquisitions are the fruit of artist residency and workshop experiences, as well as of exhibitions that made of Casa Masaccio a benchmark for contemporary art at a national and international level over the past decade, in particular in boosting the careers of the new generations of artists (e.g., Antonio Rovaldi, Marinella Senatore, Maitree Siriboon). The collection also includes a section devoted to young artists, testifying to the strong bond between the museum and its region. Some of the works from the collection can also be appreciated through multimedia applications to be downloaded on a mobile device (e.g., a tablet or a smartphone).
