– description: Paolo Meoni’s artistic investigation spans an analysis of time through the use of photography and video, often delving into the relationship between static images and motion. Meoni’s signature style demonstrates photographic time through video time stemming precisely from photography, or it alludes to the idea of a photograph. Thanks to Meoni’s careful editing, the video appears to be a static image. The camera is placed in front of a giant scaffolding that seems to trap an industrial archaeology building; the lens closes up. Through the grid of pipes, the artist frames a landscape at the border between countryside and city. Everything seems flattened on the same level. This effect is enhanced by the absence of colour, which was removed during the post-production phase, creating an image reminiscent of a photograph, as if the video were showing the shutter speed, the exposure time of a photograph that was never taken. Therefore, Bound stages a continuous contrast between what is about to blur and fade away, the chimney stack that is used as a frame, and the city life that moves in the background. This work was donated on the occasion of the EN PLEIN AIR solo exhibition housed at Casa Masaccio in 2012.
